Dear Sir/Madam
M60 JUNCTIONS 1-2, STOCKPORT – MAJOR MAINTENANCE WORK
I am writing to
inform you of road works taking place on the M60 between junctions 1
and 2 to improve the road surface, the drainage system, safety fences
and lights. Preparatory work will start on 2 October. From
mid-October, there will be narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit in
place until the works are completed next spring. This will cause
some delays and you are advised to warn your customers and suppliers,
if they are making deliveries, to allow more time for their journey.
The work is being
undertaken as the road is worn out and needs repairing. The
existing concrete surface is also very noisy and so a new ‘low
noise’ surface will be laid in its place. Existing steel
barriers on the central reserve will be replaced with a continuous
concrete barrier. This will stop ‘crossover
accidents’ and also reduce maintenance costs. We will carry
out other essential maintenance at the same time.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused to yourselves or your customers during the works.
Yours faithfully
