to WHAT WE DO Strollers Group 2012

We meet on the last Monday of each month, mostly at 9:45am by the village hall.
Walks are not long, usually for about 1 to 1½ hours. No dogs please.
Depending on the weather it may be necessary to change the walks.
You are guaranteed a friendly welcome when you join us.
Programme of walks
25th June
The walk will last approximately 1½ hours, starting at the Macclesfield canal, onto Middlewood Way
and back to the A6. There are 4 Stiles to negotiate along the way.
30 July meet at 9.45 at the village hall.
There is no walk in August
29th October - Brabyns Park. Meet at the Windlehurst Road bus stop at 09:25.
Don't forget your bus pass!
26th November. A short walk followed by a meal.
There will be no December walk.
Reports
The Strollers had their first meeting on Monday 28th May. Seven of us strolled along the Macclesfield canal in brilliant sunshine to Nelsons Pit with a short break for a cooling drink of water. We then made our way back to High Lane along Middlewood Way with time to look for and try to recognise a few wild flowers. We discussed briefly the building of the railway (Middlewood Way) and the Macclesfield canal.
The very easy walk took about one and a half hours enjoyed by all who participated.
The walk on 25th June was again attended by 7 members, all ladies this time! Where are the men of High Lane U3A? We walked at a leisurely pace along the canal in the direction of Marple, came off at Windlehurst Hall and headed towards Bateson's. From there we circled back along the canal to High Lane.
The ground was a bit muddy after all the rain but the company was great. A few members then enjoyed a well earned coffee break at Blueberries.
