The Group is split into 2 sub sections -  Groups 1& 2 and Groups 3&4

Ballet Appreciation Groups 1 & 2
The Ballet Appreciation Groups 1&2 has continued to meet throughout 2014 on the first Friday and third Wednesday of the month respectively. The attendance although small has remained constant making it difficult for those on the waiting list to join the group on a permanent basis.
The meetings take place in my home, so the size of each group is limited; however, I am trying to accommodate maybe two more members by moving the furniture around.  To date we are still enjoying various Ballets and Ballet Documentaries, I am constantly on the lookout for more ballets to add to my collection to keep up the interest.
Ballets recently shown to date:-
“La Sylphide” – Royal Danish Ballet – “Dance Ballerina Dance” (Doc)
“Sylvia” – Royal Ballet Co.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”- Pacific Northwest Ballet Co. – “Etudes”- Danish Ballet Co.
“La Fille Mal Gardee” – Royal Ballet – “Chaconne” & “La Dansa de las Horas”
“A Mixed Ballet from The Kirov Ballet Co. – “ Dance Like A Man”  (Doc)

Ballet Appreciation Groups 3 & 4.
Groups 3&4 started in September 2012 to help meet the request for more places. The groups meet in Poynton once per month, normally on the 4th Wednesday or 1st Thursday. They include U3A members from both High Lane and Poynton.

Each session has a theme – usually a choreographer or a particular ballet company. We see a varied programme of documentaries, extracts, short pieces and full length ballets. Sessions are friendly and informal.

Topics covered have included:
The Royal Ballet:  Its origins and resident choreographers. Historic and recent productions.
Classical Russian Style.
Ballet in America.
The Royal Danish Ballet.
The Paris Opera Ballet.

Numbers are limited, but we could accommodate a few new members, please contact me.
