What a great Day out we had!
This year our Day out clashed with a trip to London so a number of our
usual group were unable to make it. We met at Torkington Car Park and
shared cars.
We arrived at Copperfield's Bowling club
at around 11.15am to be welcomed by Len and Pat (who have a
holiday caravan locally and are members there as well) and were served
Tea and coffee and home made cakes including
'Bara Brith' - a sort of Welsh fruit
loaf.
We then practised until mixed teams were drawn and the round robin
social competition organised. After a couple of rounds we ate our
packed lunch and cooled off from the hot sun (who needs the
Mediterranean when we get the weather!) After lunch we finished our
competing and scores worked out.
Bill and Margaret won the competion with Barbara & Eric coming
second.
A raffle was drawn with Wine and chocolates as prizes.
We then had a fun game called a 'Spider' which was won by Bill.
Finally we went to eat at a local Carvery - the 'Ring 'O Bells'.
Salads were the order of the day for most with a well deserved long
'Drink'.
Many thanks to Len & Pat for their unstinting Hospitality and to
Margaret and Roy for organising the event.
