Question 3c.

You answered that you would bid One No Trump. This is incorrect. No doubt you thought that as you had honour cards in all the suits, that this was a good thing, which it is, but your high cards in Hearts and Spades were not what we call PROTECTED.  In other words, you do not have small cards to lose to the higher cards which are available - so that your honour will eventually will the trick. For a Queen to be of value, it has to be protected by 2 smaller cards - one to lose when the Ace is played, and one to lose to the King. Then on the third time that suit is played, the Queen will win the trick. Therefore, the Queen in that particular holding of cards is considered to be protected.  Go back to Question 3 and choose again.
