MATINEE CLUB
The Matinee Club covers the 4 U3A`s in our
area ---High Lane, Romiley, Marple and Marple Bridge and Mellor. The
club was started several years ago before Marple Bridge and Mellor was
formed and on our inception we were invited to join in.
The club visits to theatres as far afield as Stratford, the Lake District, Theatre Clwyd and the New Vic in Newcastle under Lyme, as well as The Lowry, The Crucible, The Royal Exchange and the Library Theatre, Bolton Octagon and the Buxton Opera House. Over the last year we have seen all genres of theatre from Ballet to satire , from Gilbert and Sullivan to The Cherry Orchard.

We are a Matinee Club and cannot at present organise evening visits.
Programme of Outings
Wednesday 2nd April 2008 at 2.00pm. The Birmingham Royal Ballet Company will present
'Swan Lake' at the Lowry Lyric Theatre. The tickets cost £25.
Saturday 10th May at 3pm. Lipservice are doing "Jane Bond," in the Library Theatre.
Tickets £13 coach £6 if required. Last date for booking is 12th March.
Its a very funny take off of James Bond. The lady does not have a gun but a hairdryer and
her adversary is Blow Dry,who has a side kick called Timotei - don't miss it.
I strogly recommend it - June Gibbs!
Thursday 19th June at 3pm at the Library Theatre, "If I were You", a play by
Alan Aykbourne. Tickets cost £9.
On this occasion there will be no coach. Last date for booking 14th May 2008.
Wednesday 30th July at 2pm in Keswick at the Theatre by the Lake.
A play by Alan Bennett, "The Lady in the Van". Tickets cost £12 and the coach £8, this is a full day out and ample time will be given for you to have lunch in Keswick.
Wednesday 8th October at 2pm at the Octagon Theatre, Merchant of Venice.
Tickets £8.50 or £15 with the coach. Last date for booking - 1st September.
Thursday 30th October at 2.30 at Manchester Opera House. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Tickets £15.50 include transport. Last date for booking - 25th June.
Sunday 21st December at 3.00pm at The Bridgewater Hall. A Christmas Carol Concert.
Tickets £22.10 or £28.10 with the coach. Last date for booking - 10th September.
